He could speed through a book in about an hour and remember almost everything he had read, memorizing vast amounts of information in subjects ranging from history and literature, geography and numbers to sports, music and dates. Bruner wants him and Raymond to spend time together. When Charlie learned that his father died and bequeathed all his money to the mental institution in which Raymond his older brother lives, Charlie takes Raymond out of the facility in hopes of getting his share of the money. When Charlie kidnaps Raymond in an attempt to get the money, little does he realize that he has launched them both on an odyssey across America—a journey that takes them back into the past, into loss and into an unexpected rebirth of love. Charlie is very self centered and is greedy with his money. Fran Peek, however, refused to accept that advice — after all by the age of two Kim could already read and memorise books.

He wants something else, though. Charlie stole the keys and took his buddies for a drive anyway. Scientists remained intrigued by signs that over the years he seemed to acquire greater cognitive skills to interpret facts — something assumed to be lacking in savants. Peek has been called a "mega-savant" for his ability to memorise to the word up to 12, books, including the Bible and the Book of Mormon.

People in the world of exceptionalities are still people, they just go through life by a different set of rules, which is a result of being different, they tend to focus on, a specific thing. One day he got a call from some one he told him your father died. Bruner, Raymond is unable to decide exactly what he wants to live with Charlie in California or stay at the mental hospital in Ohio. After some quick subterfuge with an employee, Charlie leaves for a weekend trip to Palm Springs with his girlfriend, Susanna Valeria Golino. Casino security begins to watch Charlie and Raymond, though they can't find any proof that either is using a cheater's system to win against the house so Charlie can pay off his considerable debts back in LA.
